Our Thomas Ashe U16 Boys had the luxury of playing Fingallians in their final B Championship Group game on Saturday in the All Weather pitch, knowing that they had already secured a Home Semi-Final following two great wins against St Peter’s & Naomh Mearnog in their first 2 group games.

The game was played in a great spirit throughout with both teams really stepping up performances to give the game a good derby feel. Fingallians took an early lead through a couple of strong moves that led to 2 goals in the first quarter. The Thomas Ashe lads settled into the game, with some really strong running and picked off a few fine scores to leave Fingallians with a narrow lead at half time.

The second half was played at a frantic pace - Thomas Ashe scored a goal straight after the throw in to take the lead for the first time. Scores were hard come by for the remainder of the game but Thomas Ashe were holding a good 2 point lead going into injury time. Fingallians managed to claw back with a couple of well taken frees, leaving both teams reasonably happy that bragging rights were shared on a final score of Thomas Ashe 3-8, Fingallians 3-8.

This was a really good test and leaves the lads looking forward to play the winners of St Maurs & Clontarf in 3 weeks time.
