Our St Finians mixed adult rounders had a social game out in Dunderry, Co Meath against the Royal Rounders club Sunday evening.
⚾️⚾️⚾️
14 players traveled to this away game and everyone played for some of the 3 innings game. For Áine & Liz it was the second social match of the day for the club having played in the first gfm&o match of 2021 in Rivervalley 3 hours before.
There was some very strong batting, running & catching by the Finains team and 18 runs were scored and some good play to get the other team’s runners out. The Royal rounders outscored us however with some ex senior all Ireland players and a strong panel of current camogie & hurling players.
The referee had to cancel due to illness so big thank you to our players Gemma, Joanne & Martin who each confidently took that role along with an opposition player for each inning and did a great job while learning more about the role of a rounders referee.
Well done to Brona, Ruth & Gemma on their first match appearance.
It was a really worthwhile friendly and will help us to focus areas of training ahead of our first competitive games.
The first group games are in just under two weeks' time in the Junior mixed All Ireland series and Intermediate ladies.
