Full Time - St Finians 0-20 St Monica's 1-12
Another Strong Performance from the Adult AFL5 footballers provided the big attending crowd with a very entertaining game in Edenmore this morning against St Monica's.
With previous visits to St Monica's proving it a difficult place to play, Finians dominated the game from the very start. A brilliant piece of play saw Lee Kavanagh, Liam Kiernan & James Doyle link up down the right-hand side of the field to set up a scoring chance which James hit off the post.
The first score of the game came from a free from Brandon Caffrey who slotted over from a tight angle. Conor Halpin struck over the next point from play after excellent team play. Finians work rate practically turning over Monica’s in procession was proving to be the winning of the half. Further first half scores Lee Kavanagh (2) Fiachra Comber (1) Conor Halpin (2) James Doyle (1) had Finians into the break leading by 2 points.
The second Half started with a brilliant score from team captain David Butler. The team caught Monica’s cold with some great hand passing which eventually fell to Davy.
More scores from Lee Kavanagh (2) David Butler (1) Conor Halpin (2) kept the score board ticking over.
Monica’s started to put some good passages of play together which finished off in a fine goal.
With 15 minutes gone into the second half Cian McCabe returning to action after missing the previous 2 games through injury, replaced Fiachra Comber. His first action was to put over a free after a great turnover from James Sullivan.
The introduction of Paddy Hattie & Dylan Grey who was making his first team debut today added extra energy to the attack. Further scores from James Doyle (1) Liam Kiernan (1) Killian Ryan (1) Cian McCabe (1) finished out a great morning for the lads.
Great performances on the day from Lee Kavanagh, Adam McGuirk, Conor Collier, Shane Ainsworth, Packie Dunne, David Hattie & Stephen McNally.
The Lads continue their campaign on Tuesday 20/07/2021 at home to Na Fianna. All support is greatly appreciated.
