St Finians Rounders had their only away games of their season on Sunday afternoon, but we didn’t have too far to go.. only over to Tymon Park.

The ladies team played first against The Little lambs.

It was a 25-8 loss for Finians but a really enjoyable game and some improvements in both batting and fielding evident. Super catch near 3rd base from Úna. Well done to Carol on her Rounders match debut. Some regular players missing today with holidays & injury and we’ve two weeks more training before our next ladies championship game.

After the ladies game, the mixed team took to the field to play St Clares of Cavan.

St Clares recently reformed after 10 years not playing so placed in the junior mixed league. 6 of the 9 players we played though this Sunday were 2009 All Star Senior players so they were no novice team and we had a rough start with our first 3 batters put out with no runs in the first inning. We rallied and came back into the game a little, especially in the 3rd inning when we scored 5. It finished 24-7 to St Clares.

We’ve lined up a few social games in the coming weeks before our 3rd and final group game to try get as much practice in ahead of it as possible.
