Our adult ladies footballers finally climbed the Championship summit against an extremely tough Robert Emmets/Croi Ro Naofa and from the start we had to battle for every score !

The girls started very well planning to win the first quarter and with 2 - 2 v 0-1 inside the first 15mins with Goals from Megan Mc Keown & Ellie Kane and both points scored by Emma Howe things were moving well into the 2nd quarter but it was a tough battle slowly getting scores against a very tough Robert Emmets/Croi ro Naofa.

Further points from Shannon Britnell , Emma Howe and Megan Mc Keown left us going into half time 2-5 v 1-2 with Teagan Comber , Ciara Buchanan and Laurie Baxter also outstanding in defence and attack.

2nd half started exactly like the first and with the introduction of Rachel Church & Annabelle Timothy to help bolster defence and attack it kept the pressure on the opposition. A lot of patience was required against a stacked Robert Emmets defence and Teagan Comber soon added a brilliant goal from midfield to leave it 3-6 to 1-3 at the 2nd water break.

Following that Robert Emmets came out to give it one good push and soon got a penalty which was converted and gave them the impetuous to keep the pressure on which they did with another point but Finians defence was resolute with outstanding performances from the whole back 6 and supported by midfield they held strong and turned defence into attack with Ellie Kane adding another goal and further points from Emma Howe and Ellie Kane & Annabelle Timothy sealing victory on a momentous night for St.Finians ladies football team winning their 1st ever adult championship.

It's back to the league now were the girls are going for a league title and hopefully an impressive double.
