The club offer their deepest condolences to the Lawton family on the sudden and untimely passing of Mick Lawton.

Mick played adult hurling for the club. When he finished playing he managed and coached club juvenile teams and then our adult hurling and camogie teams up until recently, the highlight of his team management being the county championship final in 2012 . Mick also served on the club executive and served as Vice Chairperson of the club. His sons Neil and Alan played with the club with Alan is currently a member of the adult hurling team.

Mick was widely respected throughout the club and community . Mick was always an absolute gentleman to deal with on and off the pitch, his quick witted, calm and approachable manner making the playing of sport enjoyable for all those who knew him.  Mick was also a very proud Waterford man and followed his county throughout the country through thick and thin.

Mick is a huge loss to our club and his passing is deeply felt by all club members at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.

Removal on Wednesday (Feb. 23rd) morning to St. Finian's Church, River Valley, Swords, arriving for 11 a.m. Mass followed by funeral to Dardistown Cemetery.

Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
