After a couple of weeks disrupted with the weather, the under 13 girls finally got to play their second round of matches today.

First up was a short trip to scenic Malahide Castle to take on Sylvesters in Division 8. With an earlier throw in of 11:15, there were concerns that with the hour going back, some would miss out. These were unfounded though as we had a fantastic turnout of 23 girls. Sylvesters started strongly and built a lead that they held until half-time. In the 3rd quarter Finians came back well and entering the 4th there was very little in it. Despite the valiant efforts of all the girls, Sylvesters held on for a narrow win.

Next up was the Division 1 clash with Clontarf. The venue this time was Ridgewood at 3pm where the weather was practically mediterranean. With both teams very evenly matched, there was almost nothing between them through the first two quarters. With the benefit of the breeze, Clontarf were ahead by a few points at half-time. The 3rd quarter was again keenly contested, with Clontarf keeping their noses in front and this was the same for the 4th where Clontarf were able to close out the game and hang on for the win. It was great to see so many supporters at the match, who helped to create a good atmosphere for the game!

While the results didn't go our way today, it was fantastic to see a total of 41 girls involved across both matches. We look forward to the next round of matches now.
