The St Finians U15 boys took to the field in Parnell Park early on Saturday morning looking to follow up their Division 5 Cup win in 2021 with victory in the Division 4 Hurling Feile Competition.

The St Finians lads had won all their group games to setup a semi-final against Naomh Finbarr just last Tuesday. The lads won through their semi-final by a large margin to setup the final against St Peregrines.

St Peregrines path to the final was similar to St Finians having come through the other side of the group, winning all their group games before beating Clann na Gael/Fontenoy by a large margin in the semi-final.

The lads started really strong and were unlucky not to have a couple of goals in the first couple of minutes to settle themselves. They settled into the game and led at half-time by 3.03 to St Peregrines 0.04.

The second half started at a frantic pace and St Finians scored an early goal to lead by 4.03 to 1.04. St Peregrines started putting the pressure on and scored an additional 1.02 to bring the game back to 3 points. The St Finians lads responded well and pushed on to score a further 2.04 to confirm victory. Final score, St Finians 6.07 - St Peregrines 2.07.

It was a great sporting game and huge credit to St Peregrines for a really competitive game of hurling.

Great performance by all the lads on the day with the entire panel of 24 being heavily involved in all of the games throughout the campaign. There were really strong displays on the day by Liam Fennessy at full back, Ryan Doyle at wing back, Tom Kennedy centre back and both midfielders Cathal Kettle and Donal Redmond with Oisin O'Hea and Liam Galvin leading the forward line scoring 4.3 between them, and Tom Fahey having a great first half at wing forward before he moved into goal for the second half, pulling off 3 great saves.

The coaches would like to thank all of the support who came into Parnell Park on Saturday to support the lads. The lads are now looking forward to playing Division 3 Hurling for the rest of the year.
