What a game last night on our brand new All Weather pitch as the Adult Camogie team took to the field to try to win the league. After a model performance last week against Setanta could the team rise to that level again? The answer was an emphatic yes. Against a St Judes team who brought plenty of competitiveness, the Finians ladies got to work. Defensively, St Judes were proving tough to break down in front of goals with some hard defending in a competitive but clean game. Referee Gavin Donegan had little to do with the whistle as both teams played fast, clean Camogie with almost no fouls at all. Finians kept firing over points from all angles and a goal each from Ellie Kane and a returning Rachel Fagan meant Finians took the turn having scored 2-13.

The second half brought some personnel changes but a similar pattern. Highly competitive battles right throughout the field with the Finians ladies winning most of them in a hard fought game. Ellie Kane, Rachel Fagan, Aoife O'Sulilvan, Jules McDonald, Aimee Timothy, EmilyJane Fallon, Ali Halpin, Emma Cronin, Emily Ralph and Maya Dunne all getting on the score sheet - outlining how lethal this team really is. Defensively, it was almost a complete shutout with a special mention to Vice Captain Jen Byrne who not only put in a savage shift at cornerback but also somehow managed to be seen sprinting up the pitch with the ball on her stick and taking a shot for a point herself!

Finians finished out the game 5-22 to 0-1 winners in a scoreline that was not representative of the competitiveness of the game. The team now tops the table on 10 points with one game left to play against Lucan next Tuesday. Tied on points (10 each) with Setanta but having won the head-to-head last week, Finians have now secured the league.

A few bottles of Champagne awaited the team back at the clubhouse.
